Hi, and welcome to the brand new and improved Conversation Club 2012 taught by the one and only British person in the University Minuto de Dios.

My name is Lauren Johnston and I am from Liverpool in the north west of England which is famous for The Beatles, Football and having a beautiful waterfront.

My mum is called Marie and my dad is called Jeffrey and although I am an only child I have a large number of cousins and a large extended family.

I have recently graduated from the University of Manchester with a BA (hons) degree in European Studies and Spanish which, was a mix of Politics, history, culture, Spanish and Portuguese.

As part of my University degree I have lived in Seville and Madrid. In these two cities I combined my passions for sport, travelling and writing by working as a translator for the football club Villain CF and in Madrid I worked as a journalist and a personal assistant.

Now, on to the important business of the Conversation Club. Never before has there been a more exciting time to learn English with the upcoming Olympic Games being staged in London and the amount of controversial and topical debates that are currently taking place in the UK.

Moreover, the Club will cover a huge amount of topics ranging from the family and sport to British cultural events such as Bonfire night and Halloween. To bring these topics to life I will bring in photos and organise debates and role plays in the attempt to get you all interacting and speaking as much as possible.
